WHO I AM

joel.jpg

I enjoy looking around and learning from new places and people. That is my way to discover stories that deserve to be told. Chasing this goal, I have lived in many cities. And, in each one of them, I have worked in multimedia projects to show - through different formats- a new perspective of actual situations.

In order to know me better, you can see my resume and some of my projects below.

Soy periodista
Interactive documentary (Argentina, 2015)

"God is everywhere, but he attends in Buenos Aires" is an common expression in Argentina. However, this country is plural and diverse. That is why in 2015 I took my time, trying to understand how journalism and politics work. The result is this interactive report, where the user can discover the situation of this profession in different regions of Argentina.

Periodismo sin patrón
Documentary short film (Argentina, 2015)

Journalism in Argentina is constantly changing. In my time in this South American country I tried to portray the work of those journalists and communicators who, independently, struggle to show their reality. From work cooperatives to small magazines, from self-managed televisions to radios handled by peasants. All of them believe in communication as a real social service.

No es tiempo para el silencio
Documentary short film (Mexico, 2014)

During my experience in Mexico, I worked with great journalists and I learned a lot from many of them. This documentary film shows the story of five journalists who have risked their life (and sometimes, lost it) to defend their profession. This trip to the four cardinal points of Mexico arrived to the International Festival of Cinema and Human Rights of Bogota (Colombia) for its premiere in 2015.

10 pesos vale 10 pesos cuesta
Documentary short film

For 10 months we were shooting with a group of informal hawkers in the Mexico City's subway. It is a human group with great aspirations but with a very complex reality. Their struggle is an attempt to survive in a chaotic city and to face any kind of adversity.

Nico tiene una novia
Fiction short film (Mexico, 2013)

This is the story of Nico, a young man who has always been the object of ridicule and pressure for being single. Before his cousin's wedding, Nico decides to give a lesson to his family, and takes the toaster as his partner. But the surprise was also for him, who finally found love in the most unexpected way. In this project I participated in all production processes, but I took special care of the Art Direction.
